OUR STORY
JPM South Development was founded in 2009 during one of the most challenging chapters in real estate history. After spending 10 years building Wakefield Development Company into one of the region's pre-eminent development firms, co-founders John Myers and Randy Smith leveraged decades of experience and trusted relationships to build something resilient and forward-looking. With a strong foundation in civil engineering, land acquisition, and master planning, the team set out to develop communities that blend financial performance with long-term livability.
Since its inception, JPM South has guided the development of over 16,000 homesites across more than 50 communities throughout the Triangle region. Acting as both strategic advisor and development partner, the firm has earned a reputation for smart land planning, disciplined financial oversight, and a deep understanding of regional market dynamics. Their work spans from intimate infill neighborhoods to multi-phase, amenity-rich master-planned communities—and often includes collaboration with institutional investors, national builders, and local municipalities.
